Audition Songs for NBC’s The Voice

Hi guys,

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you’ll know that I’m suuuuper nervous about auditioning for NBC’s The Voice this weekend (I’ll probably chicken out, knowing me) and how I’ve been drawing a blank on good audition songs. It’s pretty difficult to find a song when you have NO IDEA what the producers are looking for! Do they want vocal acrobatics? Do they want a quirky, unique sound? Do they want a rags-to-riches story? Do they want “She Bangs, She Bangs” sang in a chicken suit? You just never know; it’s mind-boggling.

For the first round of auditions, they make you sing a cappella (no instruments – voice only) so your voice has to stand up on its own, without any instrumentation… talk about intimidating! I’ve come to the conclusion that being the best version of myself is the only choice I have, since I can’t possibly predict who or what they want me to be.

So without further ado… my audition song choices:

1. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas – Blane/Martin

2. Fields of Gold – Sting

3. Make You Feel My Love – Bob Dylan

4. The Scientist – Coldplay

5. Trouble – Ray Lamontagne

I’m so blessed to have such a strong support system– my  family and friends believe in me even when I don’t believe in myself. So I want you guys to be with me every step of the way… even if those steps lead to a big ole dead-end! I’ll still have you after at the end of the day and for that I am truly thankful. I hope you enjoy the videos… I’d love to get your input/vote (poll widget below)! Thanks for watching and voting!

Good Luck Jen! That is awesome. So glad you are auditioning. My vote is Fields of Gold or Trouble. I hope though that you’ll have an opportunity later in the process to do one of your own songs.

Bob Dylan song is my first choice, Coldplay is second. Don’t chicken out! You’ll always regret it and wonder what if. Do it!! You’ve got nothing to lose and you’ll feel amazing afterwards.

The scientist! You have a beautiful voice, and I love The Voice. Hope you make it through, good luck! Definitely go audition, the worst thing that can happen is that they will say no. If you don’t go audition you may always regret it. Go for it!
