About the Project:
Hi Jen! I watched your fireplace video and became inspired enough to go out and build one myself! I’m 100% done with the fireplace and about 80% with the side seats. Cold weather has moved in and will keep me from finishing until spring. I must have watched your video about 100 times, taking still photos, notes, and dimensions. Even counting the courses of bricks Tony was laying down to estimate my project. I’ve always been a DIY’er and this has been the most challenging, demanding, project I’ve tackled so far. I’m not a mason and would never claim to be… highly respect their trade after this one! But like any DIY’er, I did my research, studied the anatomy of a mason built fireplace and just went for it. I bought 1500 bricks and used them all but a dozen. I have a security camera on the back of my house which allowed me to document this 6 month project, minus’s taking a break in the hot summer, into an awesome time-laps movie only about a minute long. Thanks for showing me the possibilities and idea to make it my own!
Cheers,
Jeff
