Recently, I googled one of my old projects and this suggested search popped up: “what happened to Jen Woodhouse?”
Oof. That was a gut-punch, for sure.
Well, here I am… wishing you the happiest, healthiest 2026!

You may (or may not) have noticed that I’ve been quieter online, and that was only partly intentional. Social media got too loud and overwhelming, and I didn’t want to add to the noise and nonsense just for the sake of “content,” so I stepped back. And instead of running the social media rat race, I leaned into real life – loving on my family and community, homeschooling our teenagers, traveling the world (on points & miles, of course), while still quietly building and creating behind the scenes.
I found that the longer I stayed away from social media, the easier it became to just… not show up. But because I am a chronic chronicler, I never stopped filming and photographing the work. The projects kept happening, they just weren’t always shared.
On a personal note, I also had to reckon with some unchecked mental health challenges that I’d chalked up to “just getting older.” After months of intentional work and support, I finally feel like I’m getting back to myself – grounded, laser-focused, and genuinely excited to create and share again.
And then there’s Adam.
After 21 years of faithful service, he officially retired from the Army (finally!) and has joined The House of Wood full-time. We’re still finding our rhythm as a husband-and-wife team (equal parts excited and nervous), but you’ll be seeing a lot more of him, on camera and behind the scenes.

We also have a big move on the horizon, which will include hunting for land to build our (forever?) home! And for the first time, I plan to document that entire process from start to finish.
If you’ve been here for a long time, thanks for sticking with me. And if you’re newer to my DIY Tribe, I’m really glad you’re here. Here’s to a big, exciting, meaningful 2026!
