Another really helpful travel planning tool I use is Going (formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights). This email is going to sound like an ad for them (it’s not!) – they don’t know me from Adam. It was just one of the sites I visited almost daily when I was first getting into this points & miles hobby.

The flight experts who run this website are searching day and night for airfare deals all over the world. You can browse the current deals coming out of your airport(s) of choice or search for a specific destination.

Going has been hunting and monitoring flight deals for years so they can tell you if a deal is rare or common. When you see a “best ever” notification, it’s best to jump on the deal before it disappears. Airline ticket prices are so volatile and often change by the minute, so if you see a good deal, snag it!

There are 3 membership options: Limited, Premium, and Elite. The Limited membership is 100% free and the Premium and Elite options are paid memberships, but they both offer a free trial period.

Going is a very useful site, even if you’re just using the free version. You can still browse destinations and gather inspiration for future trips, as well as get a general idea of pricing. It will allow you to get familiar with average prices for the places you want to go, so that you’ll be able to identify a good deal when you see one.
