If you have a spouse or significant other, you can level up your points and miles game by playing in “2-Player Mode,” which simply means you’re doubling your efforts in working towards earning rewards points. Even better, Chase bank allows you to combine your points with another cardmember in your household. You’ll need to call Chase to set this up initially, but after it’s set up, you can move points between accounts via online or the Chase app.
Here’s an example scenario:
- Player 1 (that’s you!) opens up a Chase Sapphire Preferred, meets the $4,000 minimum spend requirement in the first 3 months, and earns the 60,000 welcome bonus points.
- Player 1 refers Player 2 to open up a Chase Sapphire Preferred card and earns a 10,000 point referral bonus.
- Player 2 meets the $4,000 minimum spend requirement on their card in 3 months and earns 60,000 points.
- You call Chase to combine your points and now have a total of 130,000 points in your account plus at least 8,000 more points for the $8,000 you both spent to meet the minimum spend requirements.
Congratulations, you’re closer to booking that dream vacation – you can do a lot with 138,000 points, such as book 2 roundtrip flights from the US to Europe (and you didn’t have to spend anything outside of your normal monthly expenses)!
