What’s up House of Wood readers! It’s Adam, Jen’s husband again, back to talk about the new Husky 105-piece Mechanics Tool Set. Jen kept asking me where her new kit was and so I finally had to tell her that I stole it borrowed it for my truck. Must be the Army in me, but I feel better when I have a complete set of tools in my trunk, just in case. Just ask Jen, I keep a self-made survival kit in the glove box that includes multiple ways of starting a fire, a compass, water purification tablets, and an emergency mylar blanket. #sorrynotsorry
One of the things I love most about this mechanics tool set is that it seems like it was made as “trunk kit” because it’s compact, and yet it includes 1/2-, 3/8-, and 1/4-inch drive ratchets. Having that kind of versatility means there aren’t too many jobs where I won’t have the right size socket when we are on the road.
Let’s be honest, I’m no master mechanic, but I play one on TV. And by that, I mean I can follow a Youtube video tutorial with the best of them. I get really frustrated trying to work in tight spaces with hand tools, so these ratchets are pretty amazing because they have a swing arc of 3.6º, meaning it doesn’t require a lot of room to engage the ratcheting mechanism.
Looking at this kit you might think you’re missing screw drivers. Nope. There’s an adapter that fits the 3/8-inch drive ratchet that is made for the provided driver bits (an assortment of flat, Philips, Torx, and Allen head).
The combination of deep well sockets, standard sockets, and extensions means you should be able to reach almost any bolt with ease and the Gimbal ratchet features multi-directional rotation for easier access in hard-to-reach areas.
All in all, this is a pretty inclusive kit for your car, garage, or workshop and it comes with Husky’s unbeatable Lifetime Warranty, no questions asked, no receipt required. Check it out at Home Depot or HomeDepot.com.

Im sure it’s a good all around set of tools to have but you talking about being on the road just the toolset won’t get you off the side of the road you will need parts

You underestimate back-woods engineering. This coupled with baleing wire, zipties, fluids, brake-cleaner, and a few good ratchet straps have gotten me out of all but the most catastrophic of failures.
