I picked up this vintage Hamilton printer’s drawer at a flea market and repurposed it into a jewelry organizer. I stole this clever idea from Bluebird Heaven. She sells these beautiful jewelry displays in her Etsy shop. I decided to DIY my own and soon regretted that decision because this was the most tedious project I’ve taken on thus far. As you can see, I still have quite a ways to go, but I grew impatient and irritated by the whole project, so I called it quits as soon as every pair of earrings had its own little cubby. I suppose if I accumulate more accessories, then I’ll revisit this project. Until then, I have a jewelry organizer that doubles as beautiful wall art!
I have one of these too… but haven't yet figured out how to get the little eye screws in… they are so tiny. Suggestions?
Cathy,
They ARE tiny! As I mentioned in the post, this project was very, very tedious. I got frustrated more than once (or three times). First, I used a small nail and hammered in a ‘guide hole’ just to help get things started. Then I twisted in the little eye screws in by hand until they bit into the wood. I used a needle-nosed plier to twist the rest of the way. Also, they’re at an angle, and towards the front, so you’re not reaching too far in the cubby.
Hope that helps! Good luck!
Very, very cool!
Thanks Janine!
Where did you buy these tiny hooks?
Kailee,
From Lowe’s!
Looks awesome! I might have to steal this idea!
Thanks, Belinda! Steal away!
Thanks Jen! I am going to try this sooner or later… I have all the parts, just need to sit down and do it one night…
Cathy,
Good luck! And I didn’t do it all in one night. I did a few at a time, while sitting watching TV, or doing laundry… spread it out. It’ll help keep your sanity!
