Hello and happy Monday! I’ve got a treat for you today – I teamed up with the amazing Shara from Woodshop Diaries to bring you the plans and tutorial for this adorable DIY Doghouse with Deck!

I first “met” Shara when she submitted her twisty side table for my One Board Challenge a couple of years ago. I dreamed up The One Board Challenge and invited a few blogger friends of mine to build something awesome out of a single board. After seeing how much interest it generated from the woodworking community, I opened up the contest to everyone and Shara’s side table was one of my favorite (and one of the most impressive) submissions.
When Shara reached out to me to write the plans for a doghouse she wanted to build for her beloved Lucy Lou, I couldn’t say “heck yeah!” fast enough. I think Lucy loves her new digs, don’t you?

I love that Shara added a food bowl and a toy box. She also insulated the inside to keep Lucy nice and toasty in the wintertime. Who could ask for anything more?

So you think there is enough room inside to add a half wall, to the left of the door? In order to help keep wind out. My dog looks to be the same size as Lucy. Thanks!
Your plans say the roof beams need to be cut at a 75° cut. Thats to steep, may want to make sure you fix that angle.
Thanks Brian. It’s 75º off square (90º – 75º = 15º). Sorry for the confusion!
Not sure how to comment. My son is building this for an online school woodworking project. As we are VERY novice woodworkers, when your plans says ‘drill pocket holes, the plans don’t indicate exactly where those should go

Hi I’m so In love with this dog house I just received my dog today she’s a pet rescue and I want to get her something special you know somewhat like a dog home welcoming but I can’t seem to open the DIY instructions it won’t download is there a way that I can possibly be sent the instructions yes I did check my mail and it was in my mail but for some reason that page will not load

Love the design. How does it handle rain? Does it stay dry inside or should I consider tar and shingles on the roof? Maybe real tongue and groove siding?

There seems to be a lot of issues with trying to get the plans for this dog house. I’ve tried 4 times already and so far it’s been a no-go on getting the plans.

So I am getting a duck that i am gonna raise indoors, should i make any changes to the build to accommodate to the duck or do you think it will be ok?
